Spoons currently support families experiencing neonatal care at North Manchester Hospital and Royal Oldham Hospital, working closely with neonatal teams at both hospitals. We raise funds to help continue to provide excellent care for babies and improve services and facilities for families. We offer a peer support service on both neonatal units providing support from admission to the unit and beyond discharge within the wider community.
Working with the hospital neonatal units helps to better engage with families and provide a parent voice. We have a particular interest in Family Integrated Care and Spoons volunteers work closely with the neonatal units around this.
We have worked with other neonatal units in the UK helping them to establish their own peer support service and have provided our packs for other neonatal units to give out to their families. We work closely with the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
Building partnerships and collaborating with other charities and organisations that have a similar aim to Spoons is important to us. We believe collaboration makes us all stronger and will help us expand and improve availability of neonatal family support.
If you are interested in working with Spoons and are interested in neonatal support we would love to hear from you.
